About The Job
We are looking to hire a VP of ESG to join our rapidly growing team. This is an ideal role for an individual with sustainability experience who is interested in developing and leading Bellwether’s ESG platform. The ideal candidate has a passion for the field and desire to achieve ESG goals for BWAM and its institutional clients. The VP will act as a main point of integration for our clients’ ESG strategies with our asset, portfolio and construction management teams, balancing multiple projects for various stakeholders.
The role will include cross-functional involvement with many aspects of the BWAM real estate platform and our clients and external parties, providing expansive opportunities for professional growth. The position and will be responsible for production and oversight of real estate ESG data analytics and reporting globally.
Responsibilities
- Implement and oversee ESG strategies and initiatives on behalf of clients, including sustainability reporting and disclosures (GRESB, SFDR, TCDF), site assessments, building certifications, climate risk and resilience, greenhouse gas inventories, energy conservation measures
- Act as internal resource and subject matter expert for ESG related questions and requests from clients, consultants, asset management and property teams
- Develop, compile and analyze metrics that track progress of clients’ ESG programs globally across various funds
- Ensure accuracy and consistency of real estate ESG data management and reporting by defining, implementing and overseeing reporting policies, processes, templates and controls
- Collaborate and liaise with colleagues to provide solutions for client investor requests for ESG data, reporting and responses to due diligence questions
- Ad hoc research projects related to competitors
Qualifications
BWAM seeks to hire entrepreneurial individuals who are highly motivated, mature and intelligent, with demonstrated excellence in prior endeavors. The successful candidate should have:
- 5+ years’ relevant experience
- A bachelor’s degree (required); MS in Environmental Sustainability (preferred)
- Experience in sustainability and the commercial real estate industry
- Demonstrates passion for sustainability and interest in ESG trends, regulations and developments
- Strong understanding of ESG frameworks and KPIs, ESG data platforms (Measurabl, ESPM), sustainability reporting and disclosures (GRESB, UN PRI, TCFD, CDP, SASB, GRI, MSCI)
- Experience with building certification process (LEED, EnergyStar, WELL, Fitwell, BOMA 360, BREEAM)
- Experience with environmental sustainability across equity and debt investments
- Strong analytical, quantitative, problem solving, critical thinking and decision-making skills; strong proficiency in Excel – the candidate will be expected to manage, analyze and verify large data sets and be a resource for others
- Communication and project management capabilities including senior and junior stakeholder management; ability to train others and document critical processes
Base Salary: $150,000 – $200,000

BWAM’s platform helps provide greater efficiency and functionality through the following areas:
- Asset-level analytics: Providing quantitative and qualitative investment- and portfolio-level performance reports by consolidating and analyzing monthly operating reports produced by operating partners to track and monitor performance against initial underwriting;
- Active Asset Management Support: The team works closely with Acquisition Teams to help monitor all strategic and joint-venture operating partners on a day-to-day basis. Responsibilities include weekly leasing calls, monthly operations reviews, annual budget and business plan reviews and financial analysis; and
- Investment- and Fund-level Reforecasting: BWAM is responsible for creating proprietary investment-level valuation models for the portfolio to enhance our ability to reforecast investment-and fund-level performance on a routine basis.
