What You’ll Do

  • Support the strategy and implementation of the real estate S&I programme with particular focus on impact investment and social impact funds;
  • Support the management of Schroders Capital S&I Governance Framework including adherence to sustainability investment legislative and regulatory requirements at entity and product level (e.g. SFDR, SDR) as well as underlying assets (e.g. EPBD) applicable to the global real estate portfolio;
  • Represent the business within the industry and with clients on the S&I value proposition for the real estate investment desk as part of client pitches and other engagements;
  • Supporting the real estate impact investing proposition working closely with investment teams and the central S&I team in relation to the Schroders Impact Framework including overall processes, toolkits, governance and reporting requirements to ensure a robust and consistent approach across Schroders Capital and Schroders Group more broadly;
  • Driving the systematic integration of social considerations in the business-as-usual S&I programme;
  • working in collaboration with the Schroders Capital S&I team, legal, risk and compliance functions as well as investment and product teams;
  • Contributing towards the development of Sustainability and Impact strategy, policy and performance targets and their implementation across the real estate business;
  • Managing external relationships with consultants on S&I issues, including third-party managing agents, technical building, sustainability and social impact consultants;
  • Working closely with fund managers and investment teams throughout the fund and investment lifecycle to ensure the effective integration of S&I within the investment process for funds including inputting to guidance documents, asset and fund reviews and fund level reporting;
  • Supporting the communication of the Sustainability programme generally and specific to funds within and for the company working with sustainability, client, marketing and externally to clients, consultants and other stakeholders;
  • Guiding application of reporting for funds (INREV/EPRA, GRESB) and industry frameworks including UN PRI, Operating Principles for Impact Management;
  • Promoting industry engagement through representation at industry groups and sustainability committees, attending conferences and contributing to industry initiatives (e.g. Better Buildings Partnership, UK Green Building Council, British Council for Offices, EPRA, INREV, AREF, BRE, Impact Investing Institute);
  • Creating and sharing content on emerging S&I and impact investing related investment themes as part of the business thought leadership strategy And
  • Presenting to fund/entity board meetings and contributing to investment meetings and new mandate RFPs.

The Knowledge, Experience And Qualifications You Need

  • An experienced sustainability professional with an interest in real estate;
  • Appreciation of the regulatory landscape for funds including SFDR and SDR;
  • Interest in driving social and environmental outcomes across real estate investment strategies including direct and indirect, equity and debt;
  • Previous sustainability experience and qualifications;
  • Ability to engage with a range of team members and seniority to support the ambitions being achieved;
  • Ability to present complex topics and concepts simply to a broad audience;
  • Good data analysis skills;
  • Ability to navigate and understand the rapidly evolving sustainability landscape for real estate and investment;
  • Personal resilience and flexibility; the ability to take ownership and act proactively for projects and tasks;
  • The knowledge, experience and qualifications that will help And
  • Experience of working within commercial real estate.
