Overview

We are seeking to hire a Research Analyst for the Sustainable Investing team. This individual will be part of a growing team responsible for overseeing all sustainability initiatives within Wilmington Trust – Asset Management. The Research Analyst will be expected to conduct general Sustainability and Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) research and help execute on the overall strategy of the team. This person will also act as a liaison between the investment teams and sales/marketing teams providing reporting and performing ad hoc requests. The successful candidate will have a genuine interest and curiosity for sustainable investing, and a desire to be part of a growing team. Strong writing and analytical skills are required.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Work with the Head of Sustainable Investing and a team of dedicated research analysts to develop and deliver research and analysis
  • Lead thematic engagements with portfolio companies
  • Maintain abreast trends in sustainable investing landscape, including major regulatory developments and key areas of discussion/development
  • Monitor ESG related proxy voting
  • Work with teams across Wilmington Trust and M&T Bank supporting the investment and research process and corporate ESG endeavors
  • Support the development of Sustainability focused products and services
  • Build relationships with other members on the Sustainable Investing team and other investment teams across asset management supporting the investment and research process;
  • Support client facing personnel with business development activities related to Sustainable Investing
  • Prepare documentation to communicate portfolio performance, investment options, risks, and pending decisions.
  • Participate in regular meetings and calls to discuss organizational developments, investment strategy, performance and risk.
  • Understand and adhere to the Company’s risk and regulatory standards, policies and controls in accordance with the Company’s Risk Appetite. Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management.
  • Promote an environment that supports diversity and reflects the Wilmington Trust / M&T Bank brand.
  • Maintain Wilmington Trust / M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.
  • Complete other related duties as assigned
  • Limited travelling will be required

Education And Experience Required

Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 2 years’ industry experience, or in lieu of a degree, a combined minimum of 6 years’ higher education and/or work experience, including a minimum of 2 years’ Investment management experience

Basic understanding of financial markets, investment theories and asset valuations

A strong interest in sustainable/ ESG investing and investment research a must

Education And Experience Preferred

CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) or progressing toward obtaining CFA designation

Proficient with common industry tools

Highly analytical

Research-driven skill set

Motivated self-starter comfortable working with senior management
