Your Team Responsibilities

MSCI is seeking to expand its ESG and Climate Consultants team in the UK. MSCI ESG Research is a leading provider of Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) and data and tools to institutional investors globally. Successful candidates will have previous experience in capital markets and/or ESG and Climate investing and exhibit a passion for these issues. To succeed in the role a consultant must have proven abilities to develop strong working relationships with external clients, learn MSCI ESG and climate solutions and guide clients to better use those solutions in the context of each client specific requirements also leveraging other MSCI Analytics, Index or Private Assets solutions.

Consultants are adaptable, eager problem solvers, and able to lead cross-organization projects in highly diverse teams. Great communications skills are a must as they represent MSCI ESG and Climate to all levels of client management. As MSCI ESG and Climate continues to grow, our clients span some of the world’s largest asset managers, pension funds, wealth managers, banks, insurance companies and foundations. Managing the relationships for a portfolio of clients exposes Consultants to a wide range of institution types and ensures a challenging role with daily client interactions.

Your Key Responsibilities

Responsibilities cover a wide spectrum including proactive account management and client communication, account retention rates, contract value growth and pre-sales activities. In the pre-sales role, the Consultants partners with the sales team, bringing industry and product expertise to initial client meetings. After a client has begun using MSCI ESG and Climate solutions, the Consultant owns and manages the client experience. This entails offering proactive support, expertise on MSCI ESG and Climate solutions and market insights relevant to each client use case. Key responsibilities include:

ESG and Climate Expertise Focus

  • Act as a trusted advisor for clients and their advocate within MSCI ESG and Climate Research
  • Serve as domain expert on MSCI ESG Research’s suite of ESG solutions and services
  • Leverage cutting edge MSCI solutions to deliver a holistic approach to clients’ ESG and Climate investing challenges
  • Proactively communicate and educate clients on key ESG and Climate matters, providing subject matter expertise in pre-sales/up-sell/on-boarding activities
  • Build-up ESG and Climate industry expertise to guide client in integrating ESG and Climate research into their investments processes

Relationship Management Focus

  • Achieve target renewal rate, drive revenue growth with outstanding client engagement and service
  • Develop/drive account management plans for all clients; Monitor and ensure client satisfaction
  • Identify accounts at risk and create a plan to ensure revenue and client retention; working with cross-functional teams to address issues in a timely manner
  • Conduct regular calls/visits with clients (health checks, training, relationship planning and review), requiring some professional travel
  • Act as liaison between the clients and internal MSCI ESG and Climate Research teams for key client initiatives
  • Take ownership for projects to help improve client service delivery and team efficiency

Your Skills And Experience That Will Help You Excel

  • at least 3 years of experience, preferably in a client facing position in financial services or ESG and/or Climate Investing
  • Good understanding of the ESG and Climate markets and how ESG and Climate factors impact financial markets
  • Excellent organizational, presentation and communication skills. Fluency in English is required. Additional fluency in any Nordic language would be preferred.
  • Innovative, motivated, client-oriented and commercially aware thinker
  • Demonstrated project management skills – define scope, resources and timelines and manage to deliverables
  • A team player able to effectively manage the expectations of a diverse and demanding client base
  • Absolute personal and business integrity
  • Experience integrating ESG or climate for private assets would be advantageous.
  • MBA, CFA charter or Masters Degree preferred
