Description Of Role

The position with the Global Stewardship Team would be responsible for reviewing shareholder meetings and providing vote recommendations, assisting with policy updates, supervising ballot reconciliation and associated activities ensuring execution of votes on behalf of MSIM managed funds and clients. This position would require the individual to work closely with teams in our international offices and will also involve liaison and interaction with global service providers who support our processes.

The role would also require a conceptual understanding of sustainable investing and related trends (ESG).

Key Responsibilities

Member of the Global Stewardship team and reporting to the India Head of Global stewardship, the individual is responsible for the following –

  • Reviewing proxy advisory research and applying our voting policy to provide vote recommendations to the Investment teams supported by a vote rationale
  • Monitor the voting setup for relevant mandates
  • Participate in voting policy updates
  • Monitor the Power of Attorney (POA) tracking & filing process
  • Manage reporting requirements for internal and external stakeholders
  • Monitor the ballot reconciliation process and implement appropriate process controls
  • Aid in ad hoc ESG research and adhoc projects, as needed
  • Assist in external / internal audits

Experience And Skills

  • In depth knowledge of the global investment management industry
  • Strong attention to detail with critical thinking and problem-solving capabilities
  • Excellent project and time management skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • High degree of computer literacy, including working knowledge of Windows-based applications such as Word, Excel and Access.
  • Relevant prior experience in corporate governance / proxy voting
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment, identify and escalate risk issues to stakeholders in a timely manner
