This is a full-time role based in New York City with some flexibility to work remotely.

Overview

The Manager will have a primary focus on developing and leading ICM’s impact measurement and management (IMM) and research strategies, while also supporting the organization’s overall corporate strategy and growth. We aim to craft an exciting role based on ICM’s needs but also the individual’s skills, interests, and unique superpowers. ICM is a small and nimble team; this individual will be expected to contribute on a leadership level in key areas but also to fully engage across all workstreams. The Manager will report to the Executive Director.

Responsibilities

Strategy Development:

  • Support the network’s growing membership to meet our standards on IMM and develop frameworks to evaluate fund and network progress
  • Spearhead new approaches, tools, and guidance that meet the unique needs of different types of members
  • Organize compelling IMM events and programming, including for ICM’s Mosaic Fellows
  • Develop practical, high production-quality guides and resources
  • Identify funding sources for field-building work on IMM and research; write grant proposals and reports
  • Work with industry partners to bring existing research projects successfully across the finish line
  • Identify and design high value-add projects for further research
  • Collaborate with partners, manage projects, and ensure high quality deliverables, either through your own writing and research or through supervision of Analyst and others

Thought Leadership:

  • Shape and message ICM’s perspective on IMM for market-rate private capital impact funds; contribute to thought leadership via social media and other channels, and speak on panels at industry events and conferences
  • Steward relationships with partners, service providers, and academic and industry leaders; take learnings and ideas back to ICM staff team and members

Management & Leadership:

  • Manage an Analyst to successfully execute IMM and research strategies
  • Lead the IMM Working Group (~8 ICM members)
  • Work closely with the Senior Analyst to incorporate IMM data and resources into ICM’s annual report, member portal, and onboarding and member-renewal processes
  • Work closely with the Senior Policy Advisor in cases where IMM and research intersects with policy, advocacy, impact fund regulation, and compliance
  • Work closely with the LP Advisory Council, when applicable
  • Work closely with the Executive Director to recruit and manage new staff and members

About You…

  • You have 6+ years of relevant work experience and bachelor’s degree or equivalent
  • You have a demonstrated understanding of leading impact and reporting standards and frameworks for investors, and their practical application in the fund manager context
  • You are excited about private companies that create positive impact and the ways investors can support them
  • You are familiar with impact investing industry organizations and networks
  • You have some experience managing talent and enjoy helping colleagues reach their full potential
  • You are a clear and effective writer and are comfortable speaking at public events
  • You enjoy taking responsibility and “owning” projects from beginning to end
  • You thrive in a small team and start-up environment; you like building things
  • You enjoy thinking big picture but have high expectations for yourself and others when it comes to details and accuracy
  • You have a strong work ethic and strive for excellence, but you also take time to celebrate success, care for yourself and others, and learn from setbacks; it’s all part of the journey.

Benefits & Compensation

Impact Capital Managers occupies an office off Bryant Park in Manhattan. We operate on a hybrid office model (~2-3 days/week in the office), with some flexibility to work remotely as needed. Travel to ICM and industry events will be required occasionally. ICM offers comprehensive health benefits, a flexible and generous PTO policy, 401k with up to 4.5% employer match, and a competitive paid family leave policy. Candidates must possess valid authorization to work in the United States. The salary range for this role is $95,000-$110,000, based on experience.
