Sustainability is a strategic focus for Mackenzie. The Sustainability Centre of Excellence (COE) that was created to build and deliver to clients a range of innovative sustainable investment products, solutions, and services. This range cover s the spectrum of sustainable strategies including ESG integration , best in class strategies, thematic and impact investing. In addition, this team bring s ESG expertise to develop and align firm-wide perspectives, to support investments teams to uniquely leverage ESG insights through integration and active ownership, and to reinforce Mackenzie’s commitment to Sustainability to clients, advisors, and communities.
The Sustainability COE is currently recruiting for an ESG Analyst , who will perform ESG research , oversight, reporting and stewardship activities . The ideal candidate brings strong organisational and interpersonal skills and likes to work with ESG data to gain new insights, track progress of our sustainable investment activities and provide transparency to our clients. A passion for Sustainable Investing and an innovative mindset is also a must. We are looking for a candidate with a flexible mindset and the ability to run with diverse projects simultaneously. This role reports to the Head of Stewardship.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce and disseminate ESG research and insights that enhance financial returns and/or sustaina bility outcomes for environment and society
- Track climate progress of investments through quantitative analysis
- Develop ESG dashboards to screen for risks and opportunities in investment portfolios across different asset classes and strategies
- Generate quantitative ESG reports for external reporting in line with leading frameworks such as the UN Sustainable Development Goals and Taskforce for Climate related Financial Disclosures
- Partner closely with investment and distribution teams to support them in implementing ESG data
- Support stewardship priorities with engagement meetings (bookings, agendas, minute writing, tracking and follow up) , proxy vote tracking, and shareholder proposals
- Collate complex and specialised engagement and proxy voting data and present it in a meaningful format for management reporting
- Ensure that a robust and auditable process is followed for all corporate engagements, including the recording, and saving of digital documents
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
- Relevant experience working in Asset Management or Capital Markets
- Knowledge of or proven interest in the sustainability or sustainable investing space, capital markets and asset management
- Expertise in environmental and climate data manipulation
- Strong analytical and data visualization skills
- Excellent writing skills
- The ability to work in a fast-paced work environment
- Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills
- Comfortable working independently
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
