The role
The City of London’s Policy & Innovation team, led by the Policy & Innovation Director, is an open, inclusive and innovative team. New ideas are welcome, we encourage ownership and authenticity and embrace diversity. This role sits within the Policy & Innovation team’s Sustainable Finance Innovation branch. This team leads the City of London’s work on emerging sustainable finance issues, covering crucial issues such as voluntary carbon markets, nature/biodiversity and the City’s COP engagement programme. The team also delivers the City’s flagship sustainability event, the Net Zero Delivery Summit.
As a Policy & Innovation Advisor / Senior Advisor focused on sustainable finance, you will support the City of London’s work on impact investing, keeping your finger on the pulse of latest developments in this area. The postholder will work closely with the FPS industry, relevant trade associations and other sustainability initiatives and organisations which are relevant in the impact investing space. You will look to continue and enhance the City of London’s Finance for Impact workstream, whilst also horizon scanning for new opportunities to scale the impact investment market in the UK as well as elevate the “S” in ESG.

About you
We are looking for a candidate with the following attributes:
- Experience of having worked in or on behalf of financial and/or professional services
- Track record of having worked in a collaborative, fast-paced environment with the ability to manage changing priorities and take the initiative to maximise impact
- Demonstrated knowledge of and interest in UK (and global) sustainability trends, with a focus on impact investing
- Ability to analyse and synthesise complex issues and communicate them in simple and concise language
- Strong written skills with the ability to research and draft policy documents to a high standard
- Right to work in the UK
