Job Summary
The objective of the Americas Director of ESG role is to support operational excellence, investment performance and to strengthen CBRE Investment Management’s position and image as a leading sustainable investment manager. This will be achieved through development, implementation, and monitoring of ESG policies and procedures covering corporate operations and investment management activity across investment strategies. The Americas Director of ESG directly supports and reports to the Head of Sustainability and Innovation.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Stay ahead of statutory/key market developments and ensure they are reflected in the ongoing maintenance/update of the Sustainability Vision and implementation strategy
Support portfolio and investor services teams in client engagement (e.g., participate in due diligence interviews, investor meetings/conferences, review and sign-off response to ESG-related investor queries and RFPs)
Participate in the work of Americas Investment and Performance Oversight Committees to ensure integration of ESG in all life-cycle stages of an investment, adding value to the process and maximizing asset and portfolio performance
Collaborate with asset and portfolio teams to support development and implementation of investment management ESG strategies
Develop internal and external relations, to act as the agent of change to ensure full integration of ESG vision throughout the business
Oversee and contribute to maintenance and development of ESG data management systems, processes, and integration (e.g., Measurabl, GO Analytics…)
Collaborate with internal teams to support development and implementation of corporate/operational ESG strategy
Participate in the relevant internal ESG working groups/projects (e.g., impact investment, and climate change risk)
Represent CBRE Investment Management through active participation at conferences, in industry working groups, press, and social media, ensuring CBRE IM’s position as an ESG leader in the marketplace
Collaborate with research and analytics teams to create and publish thought leadership content
Continually maintain and enhance own expertise in global real asset ESG issues
Source or develop, and deliver content to educate CBRE IM teams (e.g., monthly webinars, newsletters…)
Manage ESG consultants (develop the scope of work and contracts, oversee appointments and performance, and maintain preferred supplier list through updates and tenders as needed)
Actively contribute to external ESG reporting, especially the annual Global ESG Report, aligned with third-party guidelines (e.g., SEC, GRI, TCFD, SASB, SDG, PRI, GRESB)
Collaborate with internal and external teams to ensure maximized accuracy, consistency, and coverage of ESG data

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Masters-level academic degree
Advanced (min 10 years’ experience) in the sustainability field, with evidence of continued professional development (CEnv, Master’s degree or above)
Knowledge of sustainability frameworks, preferably in a real estate setting, on corporate, portfolio and asset level such as UN SDG, GRI, PRI, GRESB, TCFD, EU taxonomy, ISO and LEED/BREEAM
Strong leadership skills: excellent organizational skills; ability to prioritize, to delegate, to monitor and to deliver
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills: the ability to summaries and convey complex content
Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy
Execute responsibilities with a sense of urgency and follow-through
Positive, proactive work ethic and approach
Excellent and proven ability to communicate effectively (oral and written) with customers, peers, management, contractors, and investors
Demonstrated abilities to prioritize and manage multiple assignments in a fast-paced environment to meet deadlines with efficiency and accuracy
Show tact, discretion, confidentiality, and sound judgment in handling sensitive and confidential matters and documentation
Ability to multi-task, work on corporate-wide projects and with varied teams
Ambitious, team player, pro-active, innovative, and flexible
Experience In An International Working Environment, Demonstrating Cross-cultural Skills
A strong professional network in the sustainability sector to help facilitate CBRE IM leadership in the industry
