Job Description

AB’s ESG associates are a critical part of our responsible investing team. We are seeking a Proxy and ESG Engagement Associate to support our team and the investment teams to:

  • Help manage the proxy voting process for AB’s equity positions
    • Learn and apply our proxy voting policy to individual securities
    • Perform in-depth research and analysis on more complex proxy proposals
    • Liaise and communicate with investment teams on proxy proposals
    • Compile proxy reports and statistics
  • Conduct proxy and governance analysis with the Director of Corporate Governance and Proxy team
    • Identify emerging topics and best practices in corporate governance and proxy voting
    • Conduct research to identify optimal AB position or policy
    • Assist in implementation new developments in AB’s policy
  • Assist in the engagement process with management teams
    • Prepare for engagements through research on issues and question formulation
    • Work with investors and Responsible Investing team to plan and conduct meetings
  • Support investment teams proactively and reactively as needed
    • Scan new for relevant information and issues on existing holdings
    • Liaise with analysts and portfolio teams
    • Help analysts and portfolio teams with specific engagements, issues and research

Job Qualifications

We are seeking candidates with significant academic achievement, intellectual curiosity and a demonstrated interest in both responsible investing and financial services

  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • A collegial work style and a willingness to perform a wide range of tasks
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively
  • Detail-oriented, ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Undergrad degree and 1-3 years’ work experience in consulting or another analytical field; experience in responsible investing, sustainability or corporate governance a plus
